*STAR* is helping the Town of Stanardsville organize its traditional, small town 4th of July Parade, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. on that Wednesday. More than 40 parade entrants will march down Main Street and then disperse in Courthouse Square where the Independence Day festivities will continue. There will be singing of the National Anthem and other patriotic songs by the Greene County Singers, a flag-raising by the American Legion, a ringing of bells by nearby churches and the crowd, and for the first time, a fireworks display. Refreshments will be available from vendors set up on the lawn and at local restaurants.
Those wishing to participate in the Parade should fill out a Registration Form which are available at Noon Whistle Pottery, The Standard, and the Visitors Center. Forms can be left at those locations for pick-up later. Parade participants will begin assembling along Monroe Drive next to the schools at 9:15 a.m.
This is shaping up to be the best 4th of July Celebration ever! Hope everyone will join in.
