Phase II Streetscape Project Approved

Stanardsville’s streetscape improvements continue with approval by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) of the planned Phase II project to extend sidewalks on the east and west sides of Main Street.

CTB, on June 18, approved federal grant funds of $357,438, the full amount requested by the Town for engineering and design of sidewalk extensions on the east side of Main Street, from Rectory Lane to Madison Road, and on the west side from Celt Rd to Pioneer Bank. The funds also include construction of the west extension because of the need to provide safe pedestrian access to the shopping center. Both sidewalk extensions will be on the north side of Main Street.

The Town of Stanardsville will be the official Project Sponsor, or fiscal agent, for Phase II and Stanardsville Area Revitalization (*STAR*) will be the Project Manager, as it was for the streetscape improvements completed last December.
