VDOT OK’s Truck Route Signs

VDOT has agreed to put up signage recommending that through trucks not use Rte. 230 and Main Street in Stanardsville, thus keeping them on Rte. 29 and Rte. 33 Bypass when traveling across the mountains to and from points north.  Mayor Gary Lowe and County Adminstrator John Barkley sent a letter to VDOT’s Culpeper Administrator on July 31st suggesting that they erect signs to designate such a Truck Route.  This action by VDOT, after rejecting the Town’s earlier request to flatly prohibit through tractor-trailers in Stanardsville, will begin to reduce the number of long-distance tractor trailers that go down Main Street every day.
